General Contractor, Electrical and Alarm Licenses

NC State Board of Examiners of Electrical Contractors

Electrical Licensing is regulated by the North Carolina Board of Examiners of Electrical Contractors (NCBEEC). There are 10 different classifications of electrical contracting licenses. Pre-approval is required to sit for the exam. Exams are administered by PSI and cannot be taken out-of-state.

Reciprocity is available to license holders in Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Virginia, West Virginia, Texas, Ohio, South Carolina, Alabama and Tennessee.

North Carolina Licensing Board for General Contractors

The North Carolina Licensing Board for General Contractors regulates all construction related licenses. There are 3 classifications that can be obtained in any field: limited, intermediate, and unlimited. Pre-approval is required to sit for the exam. Exams are administered by PSI. The NASCLA is accepted for the building classification.

There is a 30 day hold on all applications.

Reciprocity is available to license holders in South Carolina, Tennessee and Georgia.
